What is the Idaho Manufacturing Alliance (IMA)?
The Idaho Manufacturing Alliance (IMA) unites 200+ members as the voice for the state’s manufacturing industry, representing 2,200 manufacturers and a $21.5 billion industry that powers Idaho’s economy.
IMA brings together a network of manufacturers, supply chain partners, business advisors, and strategic partners. IMA provides the connections to establish business relationships among its members, sharing in a culture of support, connection, innovation, and growth.
The Idaho Manufacturing Alliance (IMA) champions the growth and success of Idaho’s manufacturing industry through three guiding principles:
- Connect: IMA brings manufacturers together by hosting events, training sessions, and networking opportunities. These platforms foster collaboration, share industry best practices, and strengthen relationships across the manufacturing community.
- Support: IMA provides essential resources to empower Idaho manufacturers. From workforce development initiatives and talent pipeline support to sourcing assistance for existing businesses and those considering relocation, IMA ensures the manufacturing sector has the tools to thrive.
- Promote: IMA advocates for the industry by uniting manufacturers to influence key policies and regulations. By showcasing the economic and career benefits of manufacturing, IMA enhances public perception and attracts talent to build a robust workforce for the future.
With these principles at its core, IMA cultivates a dynamic and prosperous environment for manufacturers, contributing to the economic vitality of Idaho.

History
The Idaho Manufacturing Alliance was originally founded as the Southwest Idaho Manufacturers’ Alliance (SWIMA) in the fall of 2013 through efforts of local manufacturing company executives and economic development representatives recognizing the unique challenges and opportunities of manufacturing in Southwest Idaho.
SWIMA began hosting events in 2014 with official memberships beginning in December of 2014.
In 2021, SWIMA officially transitioned to the IMA to increase the impact and benefits it offered to and for the industry.
