Pro Moto Billet: Turning the Ordinary Part into Art

Based in Idaho’s Treasure Valley, Pro Moto Billet has established itself as a provider of made-in-the-U.S.A. innovation and craftsmanship in the off-road vehicle accessories industry. Founded in 1997 by Lynn Hodges, this company has grown from a small-scale operation to two brand names recognized among ORV enthusiasts worldwide – Fastway and Sector Seven. Specializing in the design and manufacture of high-quality billet aluminum accessories, Pro Moto Billet exemplifies the entrepreneurial spirit that Idaho’s manufacturing sector is known for.

Pro Moto Billet began its journey when Hodges was searching for a way to carry his stuff on his motorcycle without wearing a backpack.  He was working as a trained engineer at his father’s automation company and understood machining. He ended up designing a billet aluminum cargo rack for his XR600 that looked good and functioned perfectly.

With a gap in the market for durable, high-performance accessories that could withstand the demanding conditions of off-road riding, Hodges created Pro Moto Billet and continued to design cargo racks for other models of motorcycles. Pro Moto Billet cargo racks quickly garnered attention for their robustness and innovative design. This initial success set the stage for the company’s expansion into another motorcycle accessory – the billet aluminum kickstand.

Pro Moto Billet’s product range has expanded significantly since its inception. In August 2006, Pro Moto Billet acquired Fastway, a company with a worldwide reputation for performance-enhancing components. This acquisition took the company from billet aluminum cargo racks and kickstands to steering stabilizers, footpegs, spark arrestors and much more. “We have 2,000 different products,” said Danny Adair, in charge of sales and marketing.

In 2016, Pro Moto Billet decided to restructure as the parent company for Fastway, for dirt bike/two-wheeled accessories and Sector Seven, for side-by-side/UTV, four-wheeled off-road accessories. Accessories for both brands are manufactured at the company’s state-of-the-art 25,000 sq ft facility in Nampa where they’re lucky to reap the supply chain benefits of local anodizers – not a lot of lag time between a placed order and a shipped order. “Most of our competitors are not U.S. based, “ explained Adair. “Most other brands don’t have immediate access to their anodizers.”

While Pro Moto Billet has grown into an internationally recognized brand, it remains deeply rooted in Idaho. The company’s headquarters are also located in Nampa, where they continue to employ talent attracted to their culture of manufacturing fun. Their success is a testament to the quality and reliability of their products. Off-road enthusiasts from around the world trust their accessories to enhance their riding experience, whether they are competing in a professional motocross event or exploring backcountry trails.

Pro Moto Billet’s most recent expansion into contract job shop machining helps them utilize excess capacity to help other Idaho manufacturers.  Their machining capabilities include a handful of 5-axis CNC machines and over a dozen other types of CNC machines. They are ready and available to help others when market conditions result in excess production capabilities. Go to promotobillet.com or contact them directly to learn more.

As a longtime member of the Idaho Manufacturing Alliance, they have fully embraced the benefits of IMA membership. “The networking has opened some doors to be seen in the community and that sometimes translates into other opportunities,” says Adair. As they look to the future, the company remains dedicated to providing riders with the best possible products, ensuring that their adventures are safe, enjoyable, and performance-driven. Pro Moto Billet is not just a manufacturer; it’s a testament to the entrepreneurial spirit and craftsmanship that define Idaho.
