TechHelp, Idaho’s Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP) center, is seeking a talented and creative Food
Manufacturing Specialist for our Southern Idaho region. In this role, you will drive business growth and
manage technical and training services for Idaho manufacturers including food manufacturers. The Food
Manufacturing Specialist will develop relationships with client company leadership to provide consulting in
continuous improvement, advanced manufacturing, business management, and growth strategies. As a
TechHelp Food Manufacturing Specialist, you will work in a fun and fast-paced team environment and be a part
of the rich history of the University of Idaho.
You will have the opportunity to:
● Proactively engage company leaders to make decisions on critical improvement initiatives and develop
business opportunities to provide consulting services.
● Assist clients with continuous improvement and advanced manufacturing implementation, training, and
technical assistance, including vetting additional consulting resources to meet client needs.
● Stay on the cutting edge of advanced manufacturing methods as an affiliate of the nationwide NIST
Manufacturing Extension Partnership.
● Collaborate to meet client needs with private consultants, university (Boise State, Idaho State,
University of Idaho) faculty and staff, TechHelp Manufacturing Specialists and partner MEP centers.
Develop ongoing relationships with the top leadership of regional public and private organizations.
● Using a high level of autonomy, effectively champion TechHelp’s internal and external capabilities to
achieve near and long-term ROI.
At a minimum, you should have:
● A Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent professional experience) in engineering, food science,
manufacturing, business, or related field; plus 5 years of demonstrated experience in
○ working in, consulting with, or selling to a food manufacturing environment.
○ Implementing continuous improvement principles.
● Excellent communication and leadership skills.
● Familiarity with a wide variety of cloud-based computer applications.
● A desire to travel throughout Idaho and neighboring states in support of activities to meet new people,
create connections and increase TechHelp’s impact on manufacturing.
● Experience working in the food industry in any of the following disciplines:
○ Warehousing and distribution, maintenance and automation, IT, HR, Operations, Cleaning and
Sanitation, Food Equipment Manufacturing, Project Management, Quality and Food Safety,
Research and Development, Sales.
The preferred candidate will have:
● A Master’s Degree in engineering, food science, manufacturing, or business and experience as a
professional consultant.
● Experience in manufacturing leadership with continuous improvement, and advanced manufacturing
implementation.
● Experience with spreadsheets, databases, data analysis tools, engineering design, and CRM tools.
Physical Requirements:
● Some work may involve frequent bending, moving, lifting, and carrying material weighing up to 50lbs;
standing up to 8 hours; working and commuting in all weather conditions; exposure to high noise levels,
and require PPE (personal protective equipment).
● Must have access to a personal vehicle and possession of a valid driver’s license for travel throughout
the region and the state.
Salary & Benefits: The salary hiring range is $85,000 – $95,000, depending on experience. The position is
eligible for an incentive plan and includes excellent benefits that provide health and financial protection plans
