WHEREAS, Idaho manufacturers are critical to Idaho’s economic growth, providing jobs for skilled workers and making significatn contributions to our national, state and local economies; and
WHEREAS, workforce training and education are critical tools that support manufacturers across the country who are struggling to find skilled workers; and
WHEREAS, Idaho manufacturing is the third-largest employment sector; and
WHEREAS, Idaho manufacturing contributed an estimated $88.5 billion to state GDP in 2020; and
WHEREAS, manufacturing employs approximately 10.7-percent of the workforce and accounts for 11.9-percent of the state GDP; and
WHEREAS, Idaho is home to more than 2,800 manufacturing businesses, employing more than 67,600 people; and
WHEREAS, Idaho manufacturing boasts an estimated average annual compensation $65,608 above the state average of $47,023; and
WHEREAS, it is important for Idaho to recognize the significance of a thriving manufacturing sector and its contribution to economic growth;
NOW THEREFORE, I, BRAD LITTLE, Governor of the State of Idaho do hereby proclaim October 2021 to be
Idaho Manufacturing Month
in Idaho, and I encourage all citizens to join in recognizing the significance and service the manufacturing industry provides to our state and local communities.
